In today’s digital world, falling victim to scams is unfortunately, quite common. But there are a few things you can do to protect yourself:
Never share your card details with anyone.
Never share OTPs used to approve transactions.
Never pass your card around for others to use.
Before You Panic...
If you notice a payment you don’t recognize, it doesn’t necessarily mean it's fraud. Here are a few common causes of unfamiliar transactions:
Petrol station pre-authorizations
Offline transactions
Unfamiliar business names
Small verification charges
Auto-renewed subscription services
Take a moment to rule these out first.
Suspect a Fraudulent Charge?
If you still suspect a charge is fraudulent:
Immediately freeze your card using the Swipey mobile app to block any further transactions.
Double-check that the charge isn’t from a subscription, small verification, or pre-authorized payment.
Contact Swipey’s Customer Success team to terminate and replace your card.
How to Report the Charge
Drop us an email at help@swipey.co with the following details:
Email address linked to your Swipey account
Last 4 digits of the affected card
Transaction ID
Transaction details (date, time, merchant, amount)
Our team will verify the information and prepare a dispute request form for Visa for your confirmation.
What Happens Next?
Once the dispute request form is submitted, Visa will review and investigate the claim. Please note:
The investigation process may take up to 180 days from the date of submission.
Submitting a dispute does not guarantee a refund. Approval is subject to Visa’s final decision.
Visa has specific additional conditions that may apply to dispute requests:
The minimum dispute amount is USD 25 (or the local currency equivalent).
Under Dispute Condition 10.4, Visa limits the number of disputes for unauthorized/fraudulent transactions to 35 transactions per submission.
This cap only applies to disputes marked as unauthorized or fraudulent.
There is no transaction limit for disputes submitted under other categories (e.g. service not received, duplicate charge, etc.).
Other terms and conditions may apply.
